QoS was just weird, this was such a return to form for the franchise - just a brilliant film! Great start, brilliant story, and the beautiful Silver Birch DB5 from Goldfinger.

At the end of every Bond film, after the credits, it says ‘James Bond will Return’ Same with this film. Not gonna lie, I was annoyed when Bond died at the end. Hadn’t happened when the other actors stopped playing the part. But got me thinking.. Maybe ‘James Bond’ is just a code name? Maybe each actors iteration has been a different person? 🤔 Looking forward to rest of your Bond reactions to see what you think.

Bond arrives as a "franchise" in the third Connery movie - Goldfinger. Most of the elements that were included in later Bond films were introduced in this movie. Jack Lord, who appears as Felix Leiter, was more famous than Connery at the time and demanded co-billing and top dollar to appear in later films, leading to a recast. He was also one of the biggest US TV stars in the '80s in the original Hawaii Five-O.

These were "fun" movies. Do they not make fun movies anymore? I cannot think of a single movie I've seen in the past 15 years that was just fun to watch.

The open top car is a Sunbeam Alpine. Texan Carroll Shelby created a version called the Sunbeam Tiger with a Ford V8 in it.

"Country: England". As a Scotsman, this line has always irritated me. Especially given where the movie ends up.

In my opinion the order of best Bond actors was Connery, Brosnan, then Craig. When this came out , I had just graduated high school , everyone thought it was great!!!

The best bond movie in my opinion is “on her majesty’s secret service” with 1 time bond George lazenby..he was a great bond and the sound track and the story was the best of the bonds..I hope you watch it next and enjoy x

At the time of the release of this first Bond movie, Ian Fleming's Bond novels were already huge bestsellers. I had already read several of the books before I ever saw a movie. The first two movies (Dr. No and From Russia with Love) stayed fairly close to the books. Beginning with Goldfinger, the movies became more and more Hollywood action blockbusters and less true to the books. Some of the later adaptations were almost unrecognizable compared to the original source material.

A few years ago, Vertigo was screened at a theater here in Hiroshima and I was able to take my adult daughter to see it. It’s great to experience them the way they were meant to be seen. Thirty-five years ago, I was able to catch a number of classic films on the big screen in Tokyo, including Gaslight (1944) and Arch of Triumph (1948), both with Ingrid Bergman. black and White films on the Silver Screen sizzle. Perhaps my best old film on a big screen (in a proper theater) was a restored print of The Searchers (1956) with John Wayne at the renovated Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor, MI (way back when).

I always enjoy your reactions Coby, and you should definitely watch Bond in sequence with From Russia With Love next, which is Sean Connery's personal favourite. Dr No came out on 5th October 1962 in the UK on exactly the same day as The Beatles released their first single Love Me Do, and together they arguably kick started the Swinging Sixties. Whilst this James Bond now seems very dated in 1962 it was exhilarating and fresh. In the UK during the 50s we were mostly poor, lived most of the time on rationing, every man had to do National Service (a Universal draft) and most movies were still in black and white. Bond was not only in full colour but, due to currency regulations, it was almost impossible for us Brits to travel abroad with just £30 per person, so almost anywhere seemed exotic, especially the endless blues of the Caribbean. That's why Bond is always filmed in exotic locations. Over the next two films they perfected the Bond template, which is why many people rank Goldfinger as the best Bond movie. By 1964 the top two movies in the UK were Goldfinger and Hard Days Night and everything had changed on this side of the pond...

Coby, wait till you get to the rest of Connery's 007 movies. Each one is better and better. Connery made 6 official EON production movies and one unofficial called Never Say Never in the early 1980's. In the 1960's he made Dr. No, From Russia with Love, Goldfinger, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice and Diamonds are Forever in the 1970's.

"Major Boothroyd" here is head of Q section. He is Q, in this film using the name given in the books. In the next movie he's recast as the legendary Desmond Llewellyn, who goes on to play the character in 18 more movies - the longest standing recurring actor in the series.

Your editing cut the dialogue but the actress at the card table introduces herself as "Trench, Slyvia Trench" so Connery responded "Bond, James Bond" - it wasn't scripted (a good actor listens) but it is classic NLP 'Mirroring' if you want someone to like you, you adopt their posture, mannerisms, speech patterns etc

Classic monster movie, The village crazy is right, the monster that won't stay dead. The girl that the monster is after. Love the sci fi monster movie.

I watched this movie for the first time in 1996. I had no clue of who Jean Reno, Gary Oldman and Natalie Portman were but after watching it I became a big fan of 3 of them. It was the first movie that made me cry. Every movie that had Gary Oldman, Jean Reno or Natalie Portman I watched them all. Great take and reaction of this wonderful movie.
